Cowes Enterprise College is a recent built facility in the Isle of Wright and part of the Ormiston Academies Trust. With construction of the building originally being approved in 2010. As part of the design of the new facility a BMS system was to be installed into the building.
This is where Syscom became involved in the project. The main plant in the building consists of a mixture of Trend controls and Siemens controls. With units in every room containing KNX integration. The building has been designed with a CO2 control strategy which is achieved through natural ventilation. Within a school the population in a given room can change frequently throughout the day with CO2 levels in the room rising quickly especially in largely populated rooms. Monitoring and controlling CO2 levels at room units ensures each room specific requirements are met. Improving building energy efficiency and productivity.
